'Jacqueline is innocent,' says attorney citing conman Sukesh's letter.

In a recent interview, Jacqueline Fernandez's lawyer claimed that the accused actor has nothing to do with the ongoing INR2 billion (Rs200-crore) money laundering case involving Sukesh Chandrashekar, a con artist, reported Hindustan Times.

The former model's lawyer, Prashant Patil, talked about how Sukesh disclosed in a letter that Jacqueline had nothing to do with the alleged scam. In response to the letter, the Race 3 actor was termed as "innocent" by her attorney.

Prashant also asked for a fair investigation into the letter written by the accused millionaire. He said, "If Sukesh wrote the letter, then the allegations he made need to be seriously investigated, independently and fairly by the Enforcement Directorate (ED)."

"His statement can be recorded under relevant provisions of the law and investigation can be carried out to find out the truth," he added.

Sukesh defended Jacqueline in a handwritten letter presented to the media by his lawyer. In the letter, he said, "It's very, very unfortunate that Jacqueline has been made an accused in the PMLA (money laundering) case. We were dating, so if I gave her gifts, it was not her fault. She never asked me for anything other than love and support.”

In October 2022, a Delhi court granted Jacqueline interim bail in the money laundering case. But ED rejected Jacqueline's bail plea and claimed that the actor had deleted evidence from her cell phone and attempted to leave the country.
