(HEC) Has Announced Resuming the Laptop program in the next few days.
The Chairman of the Higher Education Commission (HEC) Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed has announced that he will be resuming the Laptop Laptop program in the next few days.
The HEC chairman made the announcement while talking to reporters in Karachi.
The Chairman further said that HEC will also launch an online course program for students in Pakistani universities with the support of Microsoft and various global organizations.
The announcement comes after the Pakistan Muslim League Nawaz (PML-N)-led federal government announced to revive its landmark Prime Minister Laptop program as part of its youth development initiatives.
According to HEC sources, a budget of Rs 10 billion has been allocated for the program and laptops will be provided to students of BS, Masters, MPhil, PhD, Bachelors (with limited number).
For this purpose, the government has also set up a committee under the supervision of Higher Education Commission (HEC) Chairman Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad who will complete all matters including criteria and others.
The 14 member committee includes Executive Director HEC, Additional Secretary Finance (Budget) Government of Pakistan, Member Planning and Development Division, Science and Technology, Secretary Higher Education Department Punjab, Secretary Higher Education Department Sindh, Secretary Higher Education Department Balochistan, Secretary Higher Education Department education Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, National Information Technology Board (NITB) representative, Higher Education Department Secretary Azad Jammu and Kashmir, Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) representative and others.
