While the entire nation has recently been concerned about rising fuel prices, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) is leading the way in development with the launch of the world’s first production-ready, long-range solar electric vehicle (EV), Lightyear 0.

On Thursday, Netherlands-based firm Lightyear displayed one of its latest solar electric cars, Lightyear 0, at a ceremony held at the Sharjah Research, Technology and Innovation Park (SRTIP).

The Lightyear 0 car was unveiled by Hussain Al Mahmoudi, CEO of SRTI Park, along with a number of representatives from the Dutch high-tech company and others from related sectors in the UAE.

The company has priced the vehicle on its website at Euros 250,000 (almost Dh 900,000). Interested buyers in the UAE and the region can order the vehicle from the company’s website.
