Mia Khalifa Joins TIKTOK

Social media has the power to change peoples lives. Platforms like YouTube, Instagram, the now-defunct Vine, and several others have jump-started the careers of people like Jenna Marbles, Phillip DeFranco, and Gabbie Hanna.

Looking even further back, OG platforms like MySpace were used to scout a lot of musical acts many know and love today, and even harbored the likes of beauty guru turned yak rancher Jeffree Star.

The latest social media platform to bring content directly to the consumer is none other than TikTok. This platform has quite literally taken the world by storm and has essentially done what prior platforms have done all in one. TikTok is now used to set trends, find new music, and even help people skyrocket to fame thanks to the simplicity of the platform.

While TikTok is great at launching careers of many unknowns, it is also a place where people can try and boost their current careers, as is evident by all the celebrities on the platform, and one of the newest known names to jump ship and join is Mia Khalifa.

TikTok Has Given Many Other Celebrities A Career Boost

Time and time again the social media platform has not only elevated the careers of stars but even helps resurrect others and bring popularity and attention to stars that they likely did not completely achieve in the past. Perhaps the best example of this is the huge boost Kate Bush's Running Up That Hill got thanks largely in part to Stranger Things and TikTok.

Former Vine star Gabbie Hanna has also found a home on TikTok, using it to help create a buzz around her music. Charli D'Amelio, likely one of the most, if not the most, well-known stars of the platform has made a name for herself thanks to TikTok and has been able to do some acting and work on Dancing with the Stars.

Khalifa's luck on the platform certainly isn't any different. The platform allowed her to amass over 32 million followers and counting, helping place her as one of TikTok's top 50 popular creators. Her following on the platform is largely female, a stark contrast from her former days in the adult entertainment industry.

And it is easy to see why her audience gravitates toward her. Mia Khalifa is incredibly candid on her TikTok account, talking about everything from the trauma she has experienced to her health struggles, and it is this authenticity that keeps followers coming back to her page.

Like Others, Khalifa Is Finding Success Outside Traditional Ad*lt Entertainment

While Khalifa's career in ad*lt entertainment was short-lived, she was definitely one of the most well-known actresses of her kind at the time.

Khalifa left ad*lt entertainment thanks largely in part to death threats she had received for a particular scene she did in one film that many found offensive due to her usage of a Hijab while filming "i*timate" content.

It was when she was at her lowest that Mia Khalifa decided to make some changes to better her life. She began posting on other social media platforms like YouTube and Twitch and even remade an Instagram page after her original page was shadow-banned.

She slowly built her career back up, even landing a co-hosting gig on Complex's Out of Bounds making a whopping $10,000 a month. She left that show thanks to "toxic male energy" and commentary from male sports fans who would not let go of her past career.

Khalifa was also able to capitalize off of her former adult entertainment career by starting an OnlyFans account, although it may not be the content most are used to from her, as the content is not at all explicit. Her OnlyFans page consists of sexy yet "safe for work" content.

What Is Next For Mia Khalifa?

It appears that Mia Khalifa has her hand in quite a few jars. The now-influencer revealed that she is working on a jewelry line, and she continues to post content to her OnlyFans page.

And her popularity continues to grow on TikTok as well. She can more openly show off her personality, something she was not able to do on other platforms with a largely male following. She is much more supported and understood by like-minded individuals on TikTok.

The Mia Khalifa viewers see on TikTok is candid, lively, and has a sense of humor, often poking fun at herself in a self-deprecating way. Fans of hers actively engage in conversation with her through the comments section, and she actively responds to them.

She credits her TikTok followers for boosting her confidence enough to start her OnlyFans page and has learned the difference between ethical and unethical adult media consumption thanks to them.

And it seems, thanks to all of this positive feedback, that Khalifa has taken on a "take no crap" kind of attitude, and will quickly block or shut down anyone that she finds to be annoying or disrespectful, something she couldn't do when she wasn't in charge of her own destiny.

Khalifa told Bustle, "My anxiety was very bad. My depression and anxiety together were...a very bad combination. That's why I'm thankful for TikTok.
