An Angry mob has tortured and killed a telecom engineer and his driver in Machhar Colony area of ​​Karachi. According to the police, local people mistook them for child abductors and tortured them. The bodies of both men were lying on the road for several hours.

The violent incident took place in Machar Colony Bengali Mahalla within the limits of Docks Police Station. SSP Kemari Fida Hussain Januri says that both were employees of the telecom company and had come here to check the signals.

'This is a backward area. Suddenly a rumor spread that they were abducting children and a mob attacked them. The police are investigating the incident from different angles.

SHO Docks Pervez Solangi says that the victims had asked two or three people for directions, after which it was made known in the area that these children were kidnappers.

When we reached this area from the Maripur road coming from the port of Karachi, there were heavy cement blocks in one of the narrow streets which were stained with blood. asked one of its residents how the incident happened, the person said that he did not know, he had just come, so I said what the family members told him, he said that they were talking directly.

A local person indicated that the second body was brought here by ghost. There were two people sitting on chairs at the same place who also expressed ignorance.

A young man said that the two men were standing in front and people asked them to show their ID card and then they flew away. They also had three bags in the car, they didn't even get them checked, which angered the public.

Dead bodies lay on the road


Where the two persons were killed, there is a mosque and madrassa and a TCF school beyond it. A person from the area said that at 11 o'clock he saw the two bodies lying in the street and the police arrived at around 1 o'clock.

Another youth said that the policemen with the polio team came here and asked the people to hand over the injured but the people did not obey, on which the policemen also opened fire, after which the people became enraged and they He also attacked the police.

According to local people, a large number of police and rangers arrived at around 1 o'clock, after which the dead bodies have been removed from there.

The welfare organization Edhi and Chhepa Foundation shifted these bodies to Civil Hospital. According to Shahid Chhipa, the spokesperson of Chhipa Foundation, at 11:35 a citizen called him on the phone and told him that two robbers had been killed by the public. On this information, an ambulance arrived, but the people were angry and the car was on fire. When the police arrived and asked to pick up the body, the body was then shifted.

The two men were traveling in an Alto car which was set on fire a short distance away from the crime scene. A citizen said that the children pushed the vehicle to the open area where it was set on fire.

The deceased have been identified as engineer Ayman Javed and driver Ishaq Panhor. Several videos of the incident have surfaced in which people ranging in age from 12 to 70 and even burqa-clad women are seen throwing stones and torturing them.

In one video, a young man's voice is heard: 'Because of them, the residents of the neighborhood cannot sleep peacefully. It's right, it's right, no one will think like that again.' Another voice calls out 'Kill, burn, burn so they know the consequences of coming to the Bengali neighborhood.'

Arif Ghori, the cousin of the deceased engineer Ayman Javed, told the BBC that 27-year-old Javed was an engineer in Telecom, he used to go from site to site and resolve signal complaints. They reached the colony where they asked for the way, whereupon they were attacked and killed.

Pakistan's largest commercial hub has been experiencing street crime again in recent times. A few years ago, after the operation, it decreased significantly, but now it has accelerated again.

Due to this crime, businesses are also closed in many areas before 10 pm.

A non-governmental organization Pulse has conducted a study on street crime in Karachi which claims that these crimes are increasing the sense of insecurity among the people.

Pulse consultant Kashif Hafeez says that he conducted a study in all seven districts of Karachi which shows that the increase in street crimes is scaring Karachiites and making them feel more insecure.

Seven out of every 10 respondents to this survey have themselves or a close relative or acquaintance been a victim of street crime.
